COVID TIER 2
We remain closed however, if you need hotel rooms we may be able to accommodate y
Furher to the government announcement placing us in tier 2 restrictions we have made the difficult decision to remain closed until the new year.
Tier 2 is the worst of all scenarios as the financial cost to open potentially far outweigh the revenue forecast.
This year has been a nightmare for our industry but for us, we have decided that it's best to stay closed for the safety of our team and our guests.
We are working on some new ideas for a relaunch in January or February and look forward to welcoming you back then.
We are grateful for the support you've given us over the years and would like to wish you all a safe & happy Christmas and we hope that next year brings more cheer than 2020.
Stay safe & weel.

WHAT WE'RE ABOUT
If you're looking for a traditional village pub with a great Wharf side setting, you can't do better than The Talbot at Eynsham.
Steeped in history, The Talbot is a fascinating place where details are recounted in a plaque in the bar. There was a building on this site as long ago as 1376 and the building was originally used as a wharf where goods to be moved down the river were loaded.
It has been a pub since at least 1774. In those days it was called The Horse and Jockey but was re-named in 1836 - a talbot is a breed of hound dog, sadly now extinct.
The Talbot retains a traditional atmosphere and is a refreshing change from today's modern Gastro pubs. Full of character, every corner of our pub seems to tell a story or hide a secret.
We are proud to have supported Helen & Douglas House Hospice Pre COVID 19 by hosting a fund raising quiz once per month. When social distancing is relaxed, we hope to resume these ever so important fund raising evenings

TRADITIONAL PUB BAR
Real Ales, Craft Lager and more
We pride ourselves on our cask ales, served in tip top condition - guaranteed!
Our hand crafted ales are brewed by Arkells of Swindon, expertly nurtured by Alex Arkell using traditional methods passed down the generations - without compromise. And I have to say, he's pretty good at it. Choose from the permanently stocked BBB or try one of the regularly changing guest ales. This could be Wiltshire Gold, Moonlight or one of Alex's concoctions which he changes on a monthly basis to suit the season.
We also serve craft lagers, cider & Guinness on tap.
A comprehensive range of Gins, Vodkas, Whiskys & Rums plus all the traditional liquers - a small wine list and a range of soft drinks will quench your thirst.
CASUAL DINING
Where you like, when you like
There are so many funky gastro pubs aren't there?
So we decided to be different.....
Our new concept brings together the things that we love to eat - uncomplicated food at prices that won't break the bank. Pizza's (home proved dough, hand stretched and generously topped), Burgers and some pub classics too. Nibbly starters, topped garlic breads and some lovely puddings along with a kids menu that your little ones will be excited to choose from too. Something for everyone. Eat in or take away, the choice is yours. We can even deliver a pizza to your room.
